IT Infrastructure Monitoring System

Infrastructure Monitoring System (IMS) allows the user to access and monitor the system. It allows the user to manage the following situations:

  1. Water Detection / Incursion / Flooding
  2. Door Contact / Intrusion Detection / Unauthorized Entry
  3. UPS / Power Failure
  4. Air-Conditioning System / Temperature / Relative Humidity
  5. Fire Alarm / Smoke
  6. Other Critical Conditions

Standard Data Center

We will propose a reference solution for a Standard Data Center. This reference solution will give an indication of the scope of work for each Data Center.

  1. Water Detection
  2. The system will be able to connect to and monitor existing water detection system to detect an alarm situation. Upon alarm, the equipment will alert operators and a pre-configured paging, SMS or email will be activated.

The system will monitor all the zones through dry contact signals for a standard Data Center.

  3. Door Contact/Intrusion Detection
  4. The system will use door contacts to detect the open/close status of doors. If the existing card access system provides auxiliary signals to indicate an intrusion situation, the system can be configured to alert for situations when doors are kept open beyond a reasonable amount of time. It can also monitor through infra-red motion detectors for intrusion. The system will connect to all sensors and monitor all the doors for a standard Data Center.

Note: EMS is able to supply and install complete card access systems where necessary that will integrate fully with the system.

  5. UPS
  6. The system will monitor the UPS for incoming supply trip, UPS bypass and battery time remaining in the event of a power trip. The extent of the monitoring is dependent on the make and model of the UPS and subjected to appropriate signals being made available.

The system will monitor all the UPS through appropriate interfaces provided for a standard Data Center.

  7. Air-Conditioning System
  8. The system will monitor the precision air-conditioning/fan coil units for system fault, on-off status and provide for system turn-on/turn-off. The system will send appropriate alerts on system faults. Where multiple air-conditioning systems exist in the data center and sufficient excess capacity exists, the system can provide a rotation scheme for the air-conditioning systems or to turn-on a spare unit when room temperature exceeds preset levels. It will also monitor all the precision air-conditioning/fan coil units through dry contacts for a standard Data Center.

  9. Temperature/Humidity
  10. The system can connect to sensors and monitor the temperature and humidity of the Data Center. It can read from a few locations within the Data Center and take average to obtain a normalized reading. Appropriate alerts will be raised in the event that temperature and humidity falls outside the preset optimal range. The system can also be set to turn on spare air-conditioning units in the event that the temperature rises above optimal range indicating a failure of the current running air-conditioning system's ability to regulate temperature.

  11. Fire Alarm
  12. The system monitors the fire normal alarm panel or FM200 alarm panel through dry contacts. In Data Centers with FM200 protection system, the system will monitor fault alarm, gas discharge and level 1 and level 2 alarms with appropriate alerts raised in the event of an alarm situation.
